What does it mean to be a Mason?
In the tradition of Ancient Free & Accepted Masons (AF&AM), a Mason is a man who is sound in his physical and mental state, believes in a supreme being (any supreme being!), and has not been convicted of a felony. Masons around the country follow all faiths and creeds, as long as they believe in deity of some type as well as the concept of immortality of the soul. Masons believe that our activities on this Earthly sojourn simply prepare us for the next. Everything we do here has a reason and a consequence, and improving ourselves and our communities is absolutely key to a harmonious human existence.
We have a saying: 2B1ASK1, which means, “to be one, ask one.” The best way to become a Mason at Roanoke Lodge is to attend our monthly stated meeting dinner, which is at Roanoke Masonic Lodge off Oak Street in Roanoke, TX, on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm. These dates do not change, and we are always expecting to meet someone new, so come on by and introduce yourself. It’s okay to be shy. We understand – we’ve all been there.
If you’re not close to Roanoke, but are interested in joining a Masonic lodge near you, check out the Grand Lodge website for Texas and use the “Lodge Locator” feature.
If you reside outside of Texas or the United States, look for the Grand Lodge website for the state or country you’re in.
Now is a great time to become a Mason, but it needs to be your decision and not ours. That’s why talking to other Masons is such an important step. So, come visit us, or subscribe to our email list below to learn more. We’d love to meet you.
